With Matt Leinart’s contract with the Texans officially in the books, details of the one-year deal are now surfacing.
John McClain of The Houston Chronicle reported football jersey
Tuesday the contract has a base salary of $630,000 with a maximum value of $1 million.
The incentives included in the Dallas Cowboys jersey
deal, however, are tied to Leinart’s spot on the depth chart and not playing time. If Leinart is a part of the active 45-player roster — meaning he’s the No. 2 quarterback behind Matt Schaub and not the emergency third quarterback — he’ll earn another $23,125 per game (or a maximum of $370,000), per McClain.
For those keeping track, the Texans’ top Minnesota Vikings jersey
backup quarterback is Dan Orlovsky, who signed a three-year, $9.15 million contract last offseason that included a $2.4 million bonus.
Leinart’s base salary in Arizona this season would have been $2.4 million.
